“The Tattoo-DNA watch features a crisp white enamel dial, which echoes the many dials owned by Xoil, who is an avid collector of curiosities. The dial of the new Tattoo-DNA by Xoil, which is held in place by the 44mm case, has been cut out with a water jet to reveal two separate, opposing parts. The white dial is decorated with Roman numerals, and designed in the spirit of the classic watchmaking tradition. The cut-out portion of the dial reveals a contemporary, skeletonized movement with right-angled bridges. The balance wheel is visible at 6 o-clock position, while the skeletonized small seconds ring is off-centered at 9 o’clock, as if it links the two worlds. Another interesting detail is the blued hands, which are shaped like the needles Xoil uses for his tattoos. The Tattoo-DNA by Xoil is made of black PVD-coated steel, and fitted with a black chrome skeleton movement. The movement, RJ004-M is mounted on 21 jewels, and it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per seconds, while offering around 48 hours of power reserve. The sapphire case-back allows the wearer to admire the reverse side of the mechanical marvel.”
